Minnow shrugs.
"I have most of it. Here."
She tosses him his shoes.

Violar, not expecting the throw, catches one of the shoes while the other falls to the ground. He gives her a confused look as he bends down to pick it up. The shoes n his hands gets a disapproving look before his gaze returns to her again still questioning. He had never worn these in his life.

"Trust me, you'll need them."
She opens her bag to show him the food she carries, and everything. She is pretty much prepared for any sort of trip.
"Go grab the rest of your stuff then. But don't dump the shoes. There's glass and all kinds of stuff on the streets there."

He gives the shoes another glance, turning them in his hands a little as he looks at them. As she opens her bag he steps closer and looks inside, nodding at what he saw.
"I'll be right back."
With one shoe in each hand he walks calmly towards their parents wagon.
Milla, with a much less smug looking Tikkri, come back towards the caravan followed by a very wet Durio and the other children now looking very quiet and for the moment well-behaved.

Minnow nods and waits, patiently twirling around in place. She laughs at the sight of the children and messes with Durio's wet hair when he passes. After a short while she takes the tambourine and starts accompanying her small dance.

A little bit away from Minnow the gathered group seemed to be arguing a bit more physically and Tavaither was currently holding back Tuilon from cutting a deep gash in to Bren who in turn was pushed away by Millro while Teraldo and Timpeney were already underway in their fistfight.
A few minutes later Violar returns with a small pack on his back, the shoes tied to it and dangling from it. He looks at the brawl with a disinterested glance before he goes up to the dancing Minnow. He stops and watches her quietly with a slight smile patiently.

She stops rather quickly when he arrives, and glances over at the fight. She chuckles. How predictable. Then Minnow turns to Violar, hangs her tambourine on her pack and smiles.
"All set? Off we go."
She turns to the road and starts walking at an easy pace.

Violar nods quietly to her question and falls in to pace with her as she goes.
Only a few minutes later a young voice can be heard behind them.
"Minnow, Minnow, Minnow!" Little Eshira runs after them, dirty and barefoot with one hand stretched out and closed.

Minnow swirls around and chuckles.
"Eshira! Want to come?"
She steps towards the girl, lifts her up and twirls her around.

Violar stops and watches the two in silence.
Eshira makes an exciteable noise as she is twirled around much like Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... followed by lots of giggles. Once Minnow stopped she calmed down a little and looked at her closed hand with complete seriousness.
"Ri said that you were going again but Benata didn't believe her and ran to ask Pa and he said he didn't know and then we went to see Gran and she said that you were leaving and Ri said 'told you so' so I ran as fast as I could coz if you go you might need this I have kept it for aages, at least a year, no one knows about it I found it when I was playing in the sand by the sea and you should have it you might need it and if you're going you should coz I could come with you but then Ri would beat Benata up all the time and Pa might get angry..."
Her little hand opened and inside it was a small deep red stone, polished by the sea to make it completely smooth to touch. She held it out a little for Minnow to take.

Minnow chuckles to herself and looks at the stone.
"Are you sure you want to give that to me?"
She smiles and takes the stone to examine it. She runs her finger over the smooth surface.

The little Elf looks at Violar with a curious glare, he gives her a slight smile back and she promptly frowns and looks away.
The stone is small, just larger than a quail's egg, deep red but catches the light quite nicely. The surface is completely smooth. It is not a kind of stone that commonly occurs on the beaches of the South.
Eshira, now playing with her dirty dress a little, nods at the question.
"It's special. You might need it. Or you might not. It is nice. I found it on a beach down in Twel'-by'. It's rare, y'know. Timpeney said so. So you can't lose it."
She looked up at Minnow with as stern a look as her little face could muster.

"In that case, thank you. I will be very careful with it."
Minnow smiles and strokes the girl's hair.
"Take care, Eshira. See you when we get back."
She carefully pockets the little stone, smiles, waves at the little girl and turns to leave.

Violar turns and walks along with Minnow quietly.
The little girl remains and stands and watches them go for a while, playing with the hem of her dress. She's looking a bit forlorn but after a few minutes she quickly turns around and runs back at top speed.
The road is quite narrow, just over one wagon-width wide and dusty. There are no other travellers in sight and the fields around them are quiet save for the birds nd insects.

For the longest time, the Minnow walks along in silence. She looks around at the landscape, at the road and the trees and the sky, and occasionally she lets herself go and dances a step or two. Three. Lots.
After a while, still humming to herself, she turns to her brother.
"What exactly do you wish to see when we get there? The market? The big buildings? A bar? The temples?"
She plucks on the strap of her backpack and hums a few more notes.
"Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll have a festival or something. There's usually something going on down there... Would you like to see that?"
