He shifted a little as if a bit uncomfortable, his hands playing with his fingers slightly quicker than before.
"I... I don't... I donno..."
He looked up towards the city with a bit of hesitation mixed with his longing gaze.
"Kind o' wanted to for long now."

"Now?"
Minnow crawls up a bit to a crouching position. She beats the dirt off her skirt without really noticing it and looks at her brother over her brown arms.
"I will just tell Father, and we can be off."
She makes a vague gesture at the city off in the distance. She has no particular desire to go back there, but she has no great feelings about it. When she looks at it, the contours of the buildings are all familiar again. There is a lot in the city she could show Violar, but she is not planning to be a tour guide. Her shoulders are moving slowly sideways and back again, as if they want her to jump up and dance.

Violar falls silent and looks up towards the city several times, his fingers playing a little with a fold at the knee of his trousers. Eventually he nods but doesn't get up.
Over by the horses one of the other families' children is dunking little Durio in the water with loud shrieks, laughs and protests. The horses shy away a little from the mess of movement and splashing water around the dirty children.
"You're scaring the horses!!" Came a bellow from somewhere among the caravan, the recogniseable voice of Temarn Hoveth. The children didn't seem to hear.

"Right back."
Minnow stands and walks into the camp. At the sight of the children, she grins, then she whistles a shrill note between her teeth.
"Oy! You're scaring the horses!"

Violar looked up after her as she got up and glanced at the children with half a smile as he shook his head.
The kid that currently held Durio under the water looked up with a cocky look and a grin.
"Wha'?" But he let go and Durio emerged with a gasp and a cough.
The horses seemed even more bothered by Minnow's sudden appearance and backed away yet a few more steps.
From the caravan came Milla heading towards them, Temarn's wife. A stern look on her brown face, specifically aimed at her son Tikkri, still grinning at Minnow.

Minnow winks at Tikkri. She does not stay to chat with him, or to pick Durio out of the trough. He can do that himself. She walks deeper into the camp, headed for her parents' wagon. Her steps are dancing with their own private rhythm.

Milla doesn't let her stern gaze move from Tikkri as she passes Minnow. A moment later there was the unmistakeable sound of a smack and a loud protest from the little brat.
The makeshift chaotic camp was bustling, everyone, it seemed was doing something or other. Not many paid attention to her as she walked passed. Temarn had returned his attention to a wheel that he eyed suspiciously with the butt of a smoke sticking out of the corner of his mouth. Eshira and Cashou were busy making one of the Viythan family's mongrel dogs slightly prettier (and more miserable) than before. There was a group discussion by Teraldo's carriage between Tuilon, Teraldo, Bren, Tavaither, Millro and Timpeney, as usual.
Tu "...is much wider.
M "Wider it may be but the traffic will be chocka."
B "Mmmm not to mention it is most likely for a block." He nods and agrees.
Tu "Maybe you shouldn't get caught then, Bren."
Bren shot him a fierce glare.
Te "It is wider and closer. If ya're worried about a block, send yer little runt out to check ahead."
Timpeney raised a dispproving eyebrow.
M "Wess'ern bridge is by far the be-"
Ta "Wessern?! Featherhead. We're not backing up to Wessern."
All seemed to grunt in approval.
Ta "Nei, Tonner bridge is on the path we're on, wey from the cite..."
...and so on.
Ahead was the familiar wagon of her parents where Madesha was just outside throwing out some dirty water.

Minnow smiles to herself when she passes the discussion. She takes a few hurried steps, and twirls. Cooler air rushes by her legs. Nice. She walks on towards the wagon.
"Mother. Violar and me are going into town."
She walks to the door. Her gear lies inside, and you never quite know how long a trip will take. It is mightily inconvenient if you're gone for a decade or two and you find yourself without a piece of soap.

Madesha didn't look up and just shook some water off her hands.
M "5 yards of kobolt blue wool. Not the coarse mesh rubbish either." She demanded.
M "Yer father will pay."
The man in question had just stopped by the door, heading for it himself, to guzzle down some cool water. At hearing the words the jug fell from his face spilling more than a little.
E "Is that so now?"

"Well, I most certainly ain't."
She steps into the wagon and assembles her stuff. It is quickly done. She doesn't own an awful lot, and what she has is for the greatest part already packed. After some consideration, she pulls the leather armour on over her white blouse. It looks a bit like a jacket anyway. Better safe than sorry. She arms herself too. It is Fardinn, after all. And after a long, long monologue she eventually decides to pack her shoes. She hates shoes. But again, it is Fardinn. There is more than horse manure on the streets there.
Minnow steps out of the wagon and adjusts the strap on her backpack. She should have more than enough to take care of both herself and Violar. She grabs Violar's never-used shoes from inside, and holds her hand out to her father to receive the money for the wool.
"Don't know when we're back."

While Minnow is inside rummaging around and packing her things there is a clear discussion outside between her parents and the price of wool, not to mention the kobolt blue being one of the most expensive dyes. Why not red, or yellow? Apparently kobolt blue was an absolute must for Benata's dress. A dress that will undoubtedly be black with dirt before long. Not thisone, this was for special. Perhaps when getting married one day. With a string of curses the man pointed out that not even Minnow was married yet...
As Minnow returns outside the discussion has reached a status quo and both parents are glaring at eachother in silence. After a minute Escuro turns away with a grunt and walks off. Madesha scowls after him but then looks at Minnow.
"See you later then."

"No money, no wool."
Minnow warns as her father walks away. She does not otherwise comment, and nods.
"Take care."
She walks back towards Violar, humming to herself.

Madesha gives her a slight smile.
M "You too Gliri-Tail." She shook her head as she watched Minnow walk off.
The discussion was still going on a little way away, by now much more heated, as usual. As she passed she could se him heading towards her with his usual quiet steps.

Minnow flashes her mother a smile over her shoulder, but pays the discussion no heed. It is always the same thing. Next they will all be pulling knives, only to growl at each other and eventually go off and have a drink together.
"All set."
She smiles at Violar. A pity that he is so funny. He is rather handsome, in his own way, and he can be smart too, if not street-wise like the rest of them. But those ideas might be the pink glasses of sisterly love, she doesn't know.
"Coming?"

Violar motions to the wagon she just came from with a slightly raised eyebrow.
"Need my things." He siad in a stating-the-obvious tone. Continuing on passed her.
