In 2 days, it will be November 11th, 2005. On that day, 87 years ago, The First World War ended. The War to End all Wars was finally concluded. Let us remember those that had fought for our freedom, and those that died defending their beliefs. Let us respect those that are still fighting today, in Iraq, Afghanistan, and peacekeeping missions worldwide. Let us remember and respect ALL those that died for their country, and the sacrifice they made. Wear a poppy on November 11th, as a sign of respect. Go out to the Remembrance/Veteran Day Parades, and hear the survivors of War speak. For they will not be with us much longer physically, but their stories will live in our hearts forever. You just have to listen.
Yours truly,
Cadet Allen Chan 778 Banshee Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets

Little factual correction.
The Second World War ended in Europe when Germany surrendered (8 May 1945) and in the Pacific when Japan surrendered (15 August 1945).
Veteran's day, November 11, is the date of the armistice of the First World War (or Great War) in 1918.
Other than that, thanks for mentioning this. Remembering those who fought and died for us is indeed a very important thing.

Lest we forget! By: Stan Daneman
Dreams set forth with the evening tide, The oceans of the world lay vast and wide! Voyages would realize their dreams In ships powered by boys, men, oil and steam!
Boys now but men too soon As they sailed forth on white, full moons! Stars in sky guided their quest As they challenged tempests, sout, north, east and west!
Some fulfilled all their ventures While others died clutching drifting benches! Romance of the seas turned to reality As they faced their own mortality!
Seamen rolled with the roaring waves, Crushing dreams of those of brave! Salt water perserved their floating mates Washed up on beaches at heaven's gates!
Some died instantly, not knowing they had, While others slowly, in hell-fire clad, Some survived the blood and oil Remembering their mates, so true, so loyal!
The oceans rage and calm as the years pass by, And many survivors also die! Not a day goes by that they forget the spray, the wet Lest we forget, lest we forget!
Soon all soldiers, pilots, sailors will retire And be reunited with fallen comrades in full attire! We'll be left without those that witnessed the hell, And be left with only histories story to tell!
We remember the brave, the young lost souls Who perished in planes, on land and in the holds, May we remember the price they paid As we bow our heads as the wreath is laid!
Lest we forget!
