This here Mod Ruleing has been thought through by our very own Bravo
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. This is if the moderator makes a wrong call. They will be warned and put on parole. If they mess up in parole they are applicable to either 2, 3, or 4. The parole period lasts 30 days. If they do not mis-behave they're out of the parole period. However, if a moderator is seen to have a pattern of make a wrong call, behave, make a wrong call, behave they are subject to harsher punishment as deemed neccesary by the other staff.
2. They're stripped to the next lowest rank. Admin-Global and Global Mod-User. If a moderator is demoted in this way there should be a chance of redemption in the same way as done in the third case.
3. If the infraction is more serious than the second they should be stripped straight to user and have a 30 day period in which they're on 'paroll'. If they pass paroll without any more infractions and are voted in by the users, 60% majority, than they can be given moderator status.
4. If it's even more severe than the third they will be stripped of their powers and told why this has happened. They will than be given a 3-day ban to sit on their arses and think of why this has happened. If a moderator is demoted and punished this way no chance of redemption.
Examples of what we would consider to be punishable by 1, 2, 3, or 4.
1. Making an incorrect call and a user or another moderator brings it to light. Judging the case the other moderators will decide if it has basis and act accordinly.
2. Purposly baiting someone into flames or trying to get users to start flames. We're here to set an example not cause problems. If the problem persists than they once again are demoted if not already a user. If a user than the same punishment for them applies.
3. Starting hate campaigns posting mildly pornographic pictures, links, etc. Again we're here to set a good example not make arses of ourselves.
4. Posting extremely pornographic material and abusing their moderator powers to cause general trouble or using the IP they can see to cause trouble.
I know the moderators are more harshly punished, but again. We're here to set a good example. If we screw up others may take that as a sign we have a weak system. So, they should be punished quickly.
However I don't feel it should be done publicly, but if a user cares enough they can tell pay enough attention to notice if a moderator has been stripped of rank. So, all warnings and demotions will be taken care of in PM's or Instant Messengers.
On selecting new staff.
I don't think this will become an issue, but if the population of the site grows to a much larger number (Say we have a 1:10 ratio. Every 10 people one moderator.) than we will select three users of whom we think would be good as a moderator.
We may or may not have them campaign, personally I say no on campaigning.
We will than set up a poll for 10 days in which the user with a majority of the votes (60% IMO) will be selected as the new moderator. Than they will be promoted and put into power for 30 days. If they don't abuse it they are a new moderator and are part of the staff!
