Right, here it is. After long thoughts and lengthy drafts on the ins and outs of D&D I have decided to keep this simple and interactive. Because let's face it, you're not gonna read a 10 page summary of the game, are you now? So I'm going to make a number of threads depending on subject and then give the basic idea in that subject and then leave it open for questions and ponderings, ok? It's the easiest on all of us I am certain. As this goes on (and presuming interest arises) it will build on as necessary. But it is simply too much for me to post a summary of all the rulebooks here just like that. *points to linky in her sig* This is all under construction. I will keep adding and amending every day.

The Mechanics of The Game The type of game I had in mind would be seriously RP heavy. That means generally it relies on good old-fashioned roleplay that we all know, love and do so well! and that would make up most of it. However, when your character does something that requires a skill the dice comes in to play. In a nutshell you will not be able to do much without a d20. That is a die with 20 sides. D&D is ruled to almost 75% by this die. There are others but this is the most important. It will rule how well you climb up a rope, whether you hit that menacing monster or how 'convincing' you are to that mayor that he really does want to pay you 20 gold/day to walk his dog. So, simply, you roll the dice... add or subtract any modifier (that will reflect how good you are at it) and see how it turned out. No arguments, the dice rules! So basically, normal postys in any old order. As not all the players are gathered simultaneously a set posting order is not practical nor in the interest to keep the game moving. So posting order = wild. The only exception is in combat where the order is determined by intitiative rolls (d20+initiative modifier). There will be a general 'company thread' or 'party thread' for the travelling adventurers and whenever anyone splits away from the group they will continue in their own thread until/if they rejoin. The DM is the game leader. No only in 'refereeing' and such matters but also controlling the world, events in it and all the NPC's in it (inluding all monsters ;D ). If you're unsure of how to do something, what things look like, what rules apply, et etc ask the DM via IM or PM or however as long as it is private as the information given to you might not be suitable to be known by the others. XP, experience points. The players earn these depending on how they deal with situations and encounters in the game, both on how they plan it, how the plan works out and how they let their characters act and react depending on their personalities. The DM assesses the XP to be awarded and gives out relevant amount of XP to the players at suitable intervals. This is how the characters earn experience and at certain XP thresholds get to 'level up' with all the added benefits that entails. Good RP is often rewarded and especially in a game such ad this. There, if there are any questions on this just post, I might add stuff as I think of them.

Dice Just a thought. We usually roll our own dice during the game and post the results. If you don't have any then I can do it for you. If you do roll your own there is a definite trust that you never re-roll to suit your mood ever. This is true while rolling the stats for your character sheets as well. There are rules that allow you to re-roll some rolls if they are too low (look below) but those are a one-off. If you roll low, tough, it's part of the game, take it as a challenge to find a way to roleplay it realistically (ie what made it go wrong? lack of concentation, and why?) rather than grumble over the lack of grace it gives your character. Truth is, they won't succeed perfectly and beautifully all the time. No one does. As for the rule of re-rolling when building your character. This is only for when you roll for the ability scores (=Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Wisdom, Intelligence and Charisma). You roll 4d6, discard the lowest and then add the other three up. Record and do again 5 more times. If the highest score is 13 or lower you can redo the whole process again, or if the total of the score modifiers (see table in my sig linky) equals 0 or less you can redo the whole process. Note that you may not keep any really good odd roll. If you re-roll you re-roll them all. Lastly you assign each to an ability (depending on what class you have chosen there are guidelines on which to prioritise to maximise spells etc).

If this is done in a private room on CC they have their on set of dice. ;D
Also, it's possible to do this in an IRC and still have dice.
Edit: And I'm assuming we'd be using 3.5 and use the rule-book in the link to choose characters? o.o Or something?
The ever interested, Scotteh~Boy.

Good point Bravo! *pets and gives a little cookie* Yeah, CC does have the advantage of dice. I was hoping to keep the game on here as we might not have all players online at the same time but you could use a private room on CC just for the rolls to keep them nice and in the open for at least the DM to see. Good idea Bravo. I have no experience with IRC and know hardly anything about it so I take your word for it on that but I'd like for you to explain how that's work. As far as 3.5 goes... YES! ;D It's the books me have and it's the books me follows and live by! So yes. Though if there is something in an older version any of you want to use just tell me and I will try and incorporate it (I will probably be inclined to bring in the odd thing, esp potions that are in 3.0 but not in 3.5 stupidly). The linky is also as you might have assumed 3.5 and yes, make extensive use of it as much as you can! It's almost exactly the books in an online version only condensed to just have the most important bits in it. Any extra stuff - check the books or ask! *hugs Scotteh* Weeee another minio- sorry player. ;D

It's an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) and there's a script that you can use with it to be able to use dice. However I don't know the script, nor do I know how to set it up. XD I just remember hearing about that.
But it's just another way to chat with people online.

Alright. I'm making a call for Characters!! Create them, ask for help as much as you need but let's get this game rolling and for that I need to see some sheets and Character histories! ;D I need these before I can finalise my game plans as I need to incorporate your characters in some nifty way to the world (feel free to make lots of character hooks in your histories as that's fun - ie mysteries I can solve for ya ). Once I've done that I will create threads for each character and post the first post for your character to react to. So don't go and run off without me, ok. Also, please make a new account for your character so everyone posts under a relevant name as it just gets confusing otherwise. Thanks. Bravo, are you playing Su or not coz he's the only one I have.

Also I'm not that great GM... my system is really easy compared to D20, cositing only of standart d6 and a hoal (hell of a lot) coins.

so... I have to post a character sheet (even though I prefer to call it a life) on the character board aswell? No, you don't post your character sheet on the character boards, just the description and appearance of your character (ie not including the character history). But I need a copy of the sheet. The site Bravo discovered is pretty good for that. --> 3ep.rpgprofiler.net/As for a different system. I always like trying new things but if I'm DMing it I'd like to stick with what I know. If you fancy launching a game teaching your d6 system count me in!!! ;D
